The delegation headed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, continues its working visit to Greece. The delegation, headed by the Minister, visited the Acropolis Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Athens.

Accompanied by the Director of the Acropolis Museum, Nikolaos Stampolidis, the Armenian delegation toured the Museum and got acquainted with the exhibition.

RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and underscored the significance of bilateral cooperation in the museum sector, particularly through joint initiatives with the History Museum of Armenia focused on the Hellenistic and Early Christian periods.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that the History Museum of Armenia already has successful experience in cooperating with prominent international museums and organizing joint exhibitions. In particular, in collaboration with the British Museum, the bust and hand preserved from the bronze statue of the Goddess Anahit were displayed at the History Museum of Armenia for over six months as part of the exhibition titled “Mother Deity: from Anahit to Mariam” in combination with the exhibits of the Armenian History Museum. Collaborative exhibitions with renowned museums worldwide are planned in the near future.

Next, the Armenian delegation visited the Archaeological Museum of Athens. The Museum’s Director, Konstantinos Nicolentzos, presented the experience of leading Greek museums, innovative solutions for organizing exhibitions, and digitalization programs to the delegation members.

Minister Zhanna Andreasyan pointed out that Greek museums have exceptional experience and global recognition, which can be useful for the advancement and modernization of Armenian museums.

Opportunities for exchanging experience in implementing training programs for museum professionals, virtual access to exhibitions, and the use of digital technologies were addressed.

The delegation led by Minister Zhanna Andreasyan also visited the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, where she had a meeting with the Foundation's Director General, Dimitris Protopsaltou.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the scope of possible cooperation in the fields of education and culture, experience exchange programs and the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives.

The ESCS Minister emphasized the Foundation's long-term investments in cultural and educational projects, stating that the Armenian side is ready to look into potential collaboration opportunities that could contribute to sectoral advancements.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) was founded in 1996 and is one of the world's leading philanthropic organizations. The Foundation supports projects in the fields of education, culture, social welfare, and healthcare in more than 130 countries, promoting human capital development.

As part of the visit, the activities of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC) were also presented to the Minister. The National Library of Greece and the National Opera are located on the territory of the Centre, as well as an adjacent large park, themed gardens and alleys, outdoor stages, exhibition halls, cafes and outdoor public spaces.

Dimitris Protopsaltou presented the Foundation's current programs and opportunities, highlighting the willingness to implement joint programs with the Armenian side.

The delegation, headed by ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, includes Advisor to the Minister Arman Andrikyan, Director of the History Museum of Armenia David Poghosyan, Director of the Cinema Foundation of Armenia David Banuchyan, Director of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia Norayr Nazaryan, and Director of the Cultural Development Foundation Karen Avetisyan. The delegation is accompanied by the RA Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan.
