RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan paid a working visit to Georgia. In Tbilisi, Zhanna Andreasyan had a meeting with the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Givi Mikanadze.

Congratulating her counterpart on his appointment as Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, the ESCS Minister expressed confidence that under Givi Mikanadze’s leadership, bilateral relations in the fields of education, science, and youth will be further strengthened through a forward-looking and continuously evolving agenda.

To ensure the advancement of bilateral relations, the ESCS Minister proposed developing and expanding opportunities for the implementation of joint programs in the fields of education, science and youth policy. Zhanna Andreasyan stressed that on her way to Tbilisi, she met with young people from Armenia and Georgia, who are currently participating in a gathering in Aparan, the youth capital of Armenia.

Welcoming the holding of the youth gathering, Givi Mikanadze emphasized the possibility of holding it annually to facilitate communication, knowledge and experience exchange between Armenian and Georgian youth, as well as the implementation of joint initiatives. At the invitation of the Georgian side, 25 young people from Armenia will also participate in a summer camp in Anaklia from August 8-12.

The parties suggested considering the potential of implementing joint program initiatives under the “Erasmus” program between vocational education institutions of the two countries, as well as cooperation between colleges, especially in the construction industry.

During the meeting, the interstate scholarship program was also discussed, within the framework of which Armenian citizens have the opportunity to receive higher education at Georgian universities, and Georgian citizens - at Armenian universities. The allocation of scholarships for Armenian and Georgian studies at universities in both countries was also emphasized.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan stressed that within the framework of the gathering held in Aparan, Georgian youth expressed interest in the possibility of participating in various initiatives in Armenia. The parties highlighted the significance of holding youth gatherings and forums in the context of raising awareness about such scholarship programs.

The importance of implementing joint educational-scientific programs in the field of science was emphasized, which can also be viewed within the context of the “Horizon Europe” program.

Underlining the importance of interuniversity collaboration between the two countries, Zhanna Andreasyan suggested considering exchange programs for students, teachers and researchers, as well as the possibility of implementing joint research initiatives. In addition, the ESCS Minister also touched upon the “Academic City” strategic initiative and invited her counterpart to a conference to be held in Yerevan in October.

The parties also touched upon various other issues of bilateral interest.
