RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the delegation headed by Matteo Rivellini, Head of the Division for Eastern Public Sector Expansion at the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Lending Operations in the EU's Neighbouring Countries.
Deputy Minister Araksia Svajyan and Head of the EIB South Caucasus Regional Representation Maciej Czura also participated in the meeting.
The parties discussed the progress of cooperation with the European Investment Bank in the education sector, upcoming initiatives, as well as opportunities to expand existing programs. ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the significance of collaboration with the EIB, particularly in the area of human capital development.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of the projects implemented in Syunik region with the support of the EIB.
Matteo Rivellini, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and mentioned that education is one of the main focuses of the EU-Armenia collaboration. He expressed confidence in the success of the programs implemented in Syunik and stressed the importance of strengthening the legal basis for cooperation through a bilateral agreement.
The meeting covered the reforms stemming from the introduction of the new general education standard and priorities for modernizing the VET sector. Minister Zhanna Andreasyan announced that the National Assembly adopted the new Law “On Vocational Education and Training” in 2024, which was developed with the support of the EU and other international partners through long-term collaboration.
“We are reshaping the entire educational process, revising the list of specializations, teaching methods, and curricula,” noted the Minister.
In this regard, she also underlined the commitment to strengthening ties with the private sector and the economy to advance the vocational education system.
The meeting addressed other issues of mutual interest.
