RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan chaired the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group on the digitalization of educational processes held at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The working group was formed by the order of the ESCS Minister as part of the action plan of the Digitalization Strategy of Armenia.

ESCS Deputy Minister and head of the working group Araksia Svajyan also attended the sitting.

The interdepartmental working group includes representatives of various structures: the RA Ministries of High-Tech Industry, Justice, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Labor and Social Affairs, Health, and Economy, National Security Service, Yerevan Municipality, Higher Education and Science Committee, and National Center for Educational Technologies. The program is supported by the Information Systems Agency of Armenia.

Welcoming the working group members, the ESCS Minister highlighted that the outcomes of the work on the use of digital technologies in education programs, first of all, should be visible to citizens.

“It is necessary to understand in what situations a citizen exercises the realization of his right to education and what impact the digitalization of educational processes will have in terms of access and enhancement of educational services. The primary objective is to approach the issues from the perspective of the final beneficiary- the citizens, determining their needs in relation to an educational institution, the state or other bodies.

We need to understand to what extent the digitalization of various functions actually makes it easier for citizens to address various issues. The work already realized and planned should contribute to making a number of processes more affordable, accessible and easier for citizens,” said Zhanna Andreasyan.

According to her, the next key step in the process of education digitization is to create a roadmap. The ESCS Minister also noted that there are processed methodologies that can be applied to enhance a range of services.

According to Director of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan, it is planned to collect and analyze information to complete the process.

Note that via Armenia's digitalization strategy, it is envisaged that the digitalization of life events will improve the quality of public services, contributing to meeting the needs of citizens and various segments of society by forming user-centered services. As part of the digitization processes, it is planned to reduce document circulation, in-person office visits, etc.

Digitalization will enhance online educational services, such as kindergarten and school registration, university and VET admission, changing of institution, graduation certificate issuance, etc. At the same time, a range of other services will also become digital: applying for support programs, access to educational platforms, and interdepartmental data exchange.
