RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of culture.
According to the memorandum, it is planned to establish a branch of the Museum of Literature and Art in the monument building at 32 Hanrapetutyan St., dedicated to Marcos Grigoryan, a diaspora artist, carpet painter, and founder of earthworks.
ESCS Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan and Director of the Museum of Literature and Art Syuzanna Khojamiryan attended the signing ceremony.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the ESCS Ministry and the Yerevan Municipality, within the scope of their authorities, will support the display of Marcos Grigoryan's artworks in the monument-building located at 32 Republic Street, in honour of the artist's 100th anniversary, which is being commemorated this year. Additionally, activities and temporary exhibitions pertaining to his life and work are planned. The Mayor of Yerevan and the ESCS Minister toured the territory of the monument site, got acquainted with the conditions and discussed the upcoming work.
“The memorandum's key objective is the establishment of a museum dedicated to Marcos Grigoryan in this building. This year marks his 100th birthday, and this would be the best gift to honour his creative contributions,” stated ESCS Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan adding that, in terms of style, the architecture of the monument building is consistent with the works of Marcos Grigoryan.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan highlighted the importance of collaboration and announced that renovation and improvement works will take place in the museum area designated by Yerevan Municipality.
“The museum will become one of the most important cultural sites in Yerevan for both locals and tourists,” assured the Mayor.
