RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Armenia Serenade Mohamed Soliman Gamil.
ESCS Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.
The ESCS Minister welcomed the Ambassador and emphasized the meeting's significance for shaping the cooperation agenda and implementing joint programs.
The parties discussed enhancing cooperation in sport, science, and technology as outlined in the 2023 Memorandum of Understanding.
Minister Zhanna Andreasyan also touched upon cooperation in the field of higher education, in this context highlighting the active operation of the Armenian Studies Center at Cairo University, which additionally receives financial support from the Government of the Republic of Armenia.
The Minister emphasized that boosting the enrollment of foreign students in Armenian universities is a key Government objective and expressed hope that citizens of the Arab Republic of Egypt will also prefer to receive higher education in Armenia.
Ambassador Serenade Mohamed Soliman Gamil expressed gratitude for the meeting, highlighting the significance of the historical ties between Armenia and Egypt, and the role of the Armenian community in the Arab Republic of Egypt. Among several other areas of cooperation, she specifically highlighted the implementation of potential cultural activities in the context of mutual orchestral tours, exhibitions, and the organization of Culture Days.
Several other issues related to the youth conference, sports dialogue, and the development of bilateral ties were also discussed.
