Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Claudia Busch.
Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.
The ESCS Minister welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated her on her significant commitment, expressing confidence that her activities will contribute to the development of bilateral relations between Armenia and Germany, and the advancement of collaboration in the fields of education, science, culture, sports and youth, as well as the implementation of new initiatives.
Minister Zhanna Andreasyan stated that there already exists a successful experience of cooperation with leading German companies and educational institutions. Touching upon the strengthening of relations within education and science, the parties considered the potential for fostering inter-university cooperation, implementation of exchange programs for students, researchers and lecturers, and joint educational-scientific initiatives.
Thankful for the reception, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia Claudia Busch expressed her willingness to contribute to the advancement of relations between Armenia and Germany. The Ambassador highlighted the significance of expanding cooperation in education, science, language teaching, and culture, with a particular emphasis on cultural education.
The Ambassador was pleased to note that 42 thousand students in Armenia are studying German, and the interest in the language is gradually increasing. In this context, the parties emphasized the significance of fostering cooperation at various education levels, emphasizing also the possibility of implementing joint programs in the dual education system in the VET system. The Ambassador also emphasized the significance of the activities of the Goethe Center in Yerevan.
The parties touched upon the organization of seminars, consultations, and mutual visits to enhance the quality of learning German as a foreign language.
The ESCS Minister also presented to the Ambassador the progress of the “Academic City” strategic program, highlighting collaboration with renowned German institutions in this regard.
Zhanna Andreasyan also stated that there is a significant potential for cooperation in the field of culture as well, emphasizing the perspectives of collaboration in cinematography, music, and museums.
Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed at the meeting with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Armenia.
