RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the delegation headed by the Mayor of Decines-Charpieu of Lyon Metropolis Laurence Fautra.

ESCS Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, Deputy Mayor of Decines-Charpieu Denis Djorkaeff and others also attended the meeting.

The ESCS Minister welcomed the guests and highlighted the productive collaboration established with France in the fields of education, science, culture, and sports over the years.

We sincerely appreciate the assistance we consistently receive for all significant endeavours,” said Zhanna Andreasyan and touched upon joint programs, including the premiere of the dance performance “The Color of Pomegranate”, held earlier this year at the Toboggan Theater in the city of Decines supported by the MoESCS, which launched the anniversary events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov.

According to the Minister, successful collaboration and joint efforts can also serve as a basis for new initiatives.

Mayor of Decines-Charpieu Laurence Fautra thanked for the reception and highlighted the significance of friendly relations with Armenia. In this regard, he highly appreciated the role and important contribution of the Armenian community of Decines-Charpieu in the city's development.

Laurence Fautra informed that they came to Armenia specifically to visit Stepanavan and discuss opportunities for cooperation in education, culture, and other sectors. Stepanavan and Lyon have been sister cities for many years. The Decines Mayor also announced that the city will host several celebrations honouring the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian Community in March 2025.

The ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of cooperation, particularly regarding the new cultural programs in cinema, theatre, animation, music, and other areas.

Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed during the meeting. The parties expressed their willingness to enhance cooperation in various areas.
