ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan received today the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia Marieke Harriet Monroy-Winter.

Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated her on taking the important commitment. The ESCS Minister emphasized that there is positive cooperation with the Kingdom of the Netherlands across all areas, and expressed confidence that her appointment will enhance and strengthen the relations between the two countries.

In particular, Zhanna Andreasyan touched on the initiative of the ESCS Ministry and the support provided by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia to establish a hiking trail that leads to the Kayan fortress in the Lori region. She expressed gratitude to the Embassy for this support. Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that this event marks a significant milestone for implementing further similar initiatives.

Thankful for the reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia Marieke Harriet Monroy-Winter noted that Armenia is a priority for carrying out her diplomatic mission. Highlighting the importance of friendly relations between the two countries, the Ambassador expressed her willingness to enhance and expand the existing collaboration.

Touching upon the prospects for cooperation in the field of education, Zhanna Andreasyan suggested considering the possibility of developing inter-university cooperation and implementing joint educational and research programs, including in a bilateral and multilateral framework, referring to the EU Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs. In this context, the ESCS Minister outlined the progress of reforms at all levels of education in Armenia.

Discussing the possibilities of cooperation in the field of culture, Zhanna Andreasyan touched, specifically, on the analysis of the experience of the Dutch museum policy, in particular the marketing aspect, to increase the accessibility and attractiveness of cultural heritage.

Ambassador Marieke Harriet Monroy-Winter expressed confidence that cultural cooperation is a key way to strengthen ties between people.

Other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed during the meeting.
