RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the delegation headed by CEO of RCS Sports and Events DMCC Michele Napoli. The international organization specializes in organizing major sporting events, such as multi-day road cycling tournaments.

ESCS Deputy Minister Karen Giloyan also attended the meeting.

Issues related to the possibility of organizing a major international cycling tournament in Armenia were discussed. The ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of the prestigious tournament organizers' experience and thanked them for their willingness to cooperate.

The ESCS Minister emphasized that fostering a healthy lifestyle and the development of mass sports are among the priorities of the RA Government. To this end, a series of amateur tournaments called the “Prime Minister’s Cup of the Republic of Armenia” is organized in various sports, including road cycling, which will be held for schoolchildren starting this year.

Thankful for the reception, Michele Napoli noted that multi-day road cycling tournaments are not only sporting events but also contribute to the popularization of the country, and the development of tourism, attracting a large number of participants and guests from all over the world. According to Michele Napoli, tournaments like this are known for their challenging routes, and scenic yet difficult roads that often include mountain heights. Michele Napoli noted that such tournaments spark a lot of interest in the international cycling community.

Initial observations indicate that the multi-day road cycling tournament will encompass all regions of Armenia spanning over 130 km. The multi-day competition in Armenia is scheduled for 2026; however, before that the parties will consider the possibility for a one-day international tournament in 2025.
