As part of her visit to Germany, RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan had a meeting with Federal Minister of Education and Research of Germany Bettina Stark-Watzinger and Vice-Chairman of the Bundestag Petra Pau.

The Armenian delegation includes Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Sisak Gabrielyan and Chairman of the Higher Education and Science Committee Sargis Hayotsyan.

The meetings focused on the new perspectives and development issues of Armenia-Germany cooperation in education and science.

At the meeting with the Federal Minister of Education and Research of Germany Bettina Stark-Watzinger, the RA ESCS Minister emphasized the significance of hosting the Armenian-German “Science Day” event in Yerevan soon, within the framework of which a large German delegation is also expected to attend.

The parties expressed their willingness to further enhance the existing productive cooperation, highlighting the increased focus on collaborative efforts in youth-oriented programs.

Zhanna Andreasyan noted that sustainable and long-term cooperation has been formed, in particular with the State of Saxony-Anhalt, yet it is important for Armenia to expand cooperation with other states, covering various directions.

Introducing the “Crossroads of Peace” project of the RA Government, the ESCS Minister also referred to the significance of education in promoting peace values.

“Education systems should best contribute to long-term stability and peace in the region while avoiding further hostility. Peace education should be a common approach for all countries in the region,” underlined Zhanna Andreasyan.

During the meeting with Bundestag's Vice-Chairman Petra Pau, the significance of a strong Armenian-German cooperation was highlighted. The Vice President inquired about joint programs in education and culture.

In turn, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Sports, Youth and Sports, Sisak Gabrielyan, who was present at the meeting, presented the existing cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and possible new initiatives.

The parties underlined the significance of fostering inter-parliamentary relations in this context, namely the proactive support of Parliaments in coordinating the executive branch's activities and the advancement of bilateral cooperation.
