Anniversary exhibitions “Temple of Cinema” installation and a photo exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Sergey Parajanov have opened at UNESCO Headquarters.

RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Ottone, Assistant for Education Stefania Giannini, Assistant for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos, heads of permanent delegations of foreign countries to UNESCO, representatives of the professional community, the Armenian community of France and guests attended the opening of the exhibition.

In her speech, RA ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized that the exhibition is a chance to learn more about the artist Parajanov outside of his activities as a filmmaker: “With the help of collages and images created by him, we will have the opportunity to discover the world of Parajanov, which is rich in symbolism inherent in him. There are individuals whose biography is penned by time and they craft everything else themselves. Today we have gathered to dedicate our love to Parajanov, who often repeated that he would take revenge on the world with love.”

UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Ottone, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to France Hasmik Tolmajyan and Permanent Representative of Georgia to UNESCO also delivered speeches at the inauguration of exhibitions.

In their statements, they emphasized Sergey Parajanov's significance as an artist and his artistic heritage. Ernesto Ottone spoke about Parajanov as part of world heritage and the best example of cultural diversity.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan toured the exhibition pavilion and got acquainted with the “Temple of Cinema” installation and the exhibition of collages and photographs by Parajanov.

During the official visit to Paris, the members of the delegation headed by the ESCS Minister visited the Paris Pantheon, met with Director Barbara Wolffer, and also watched the exhibition dedicated to the fighter of the French resistance movement, national hero of France, Armenian poet Missak Manouchian. Zhanna Andreasyan thanked the French Government for recognizing the valuable contribution of our compatriot's work with high regard.
