The Armenian national team won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at the 9th International Caucasian Mathematical Olympiad (ICMO).

The Olympiad was held at the Adyghe State University of the Russian Federation (Maykop) on March 11-16. More than 160 students from 13 countries (Armenia, Peru, Belarus, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, Tajikistan, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Thailand, Dominican Republic, South Ossetia) and 18 regions of the Russian Federation participated in the competition. The Olympiad was designed for 2 age groups: juniors (9th and 10th grades) and high school students (11th and 12th grades). The RA team competed in the junior league.

A group of four students from the A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics Specialized School represented Armenia. 9th-grade student Sargis Arakelyan was awarded gold, Elen Keshishyan (9th grade) and Arman Asatryan (10th grade) received bronze medals, and 9th-grade student Grigor Samvelyan received a letter of commendation. The team lead was the mathematics teacher of the Physics and Mathematics school, Narek Mkrtumyan.

A cultural program was arranged as part of the Olympiad, where students visited the sites and learned about the history and cultural values of Adygea. Entertainment and sports events were organized, as well as open lectures with the participation of renowned scientists and mathematicians.

Note that at the 8th International Caucasian Olympiad in Mathematics, which was also held offline, our participants in the junior age group won 4 bronze medals.
