RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the delegation headed by Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany Jens Brandenburg.

Chairman of the Science Committee Sargis Hayotsyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia Viktor Richter attended the meeting.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of continuing the successful Armenian-German cooperation in various fields. The Minister, in particular, touched upon the ongoing reforms in the field of education and science in Armenia, noting that the Science Committee is being reorganized into the Committee on Higher Education and Science. A reference was also made to the experience of German education programs, which Armenian students and teaching staff are interested in.

Thankful for the reception, German partner Jens Brandenburg reaffirmed his willingness to advance the current Armenian-German programs in the field of science, as well as German support in ensuring Armenia's full presentation on European educational platforms.

ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan drew the German colleagues’ attention to the issue that it is impossible to continue and start the education of students of Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenia due to the blockade of the Lachin corridor. “We highly appreciate the efforts of the German Government aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and we also expect assistance in the full realization of the right of students to education,” noted the ESCS Minister.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
