RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received today the delegation headed by the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamuradov.

Culture Days of Turkmenistan are held in Armenia from May 31 to June 2, and the delegation arrived in Armenia as part of the cultural program.

Deputy Ministers Arthur Martirosyan, Arayik Khzmalyan and Alfred Kocharyan, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Zhanna Andreasyan and Atageldi Shamuradov signed “The program of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Turkmenistan in the field of culture and art for 2023-2025”.

Welcoming the guests, Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the meeting is an excellent occasion to once again emphasize the Armenian-Turkmen friendly relations and point out joint actions in the broader context of cultural cooperation.

Highlighting the importance of the “Culture Days of Turkmenistan in Armenia” program, which was planned to be held back in 2020, and was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Minister noted that the implementation of joint projects and opportunities for the experience exchange contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations. Zhanna Andreasyan, in particular, emphasised the importance of cooperation between the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas and the Turkmen National Conservatory, within the framework of which a number of cultural events are organized. In this context, the Minister noted that this year the 120th anniversary of the famous composer Aram Khachaturian is celebrated at the state level. In 2024, the 100th anniversary of film director Sergei Parajanov will be celebrated, preparations for which have also commenced.

The ESCS Minister also touched upon the Culture Days of Armenia held on November 5-7, 2019 in Turkmenistan, during which a number of exhibitions, concerts, experience exchanges and master classes were held.

Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamuradov thanked for the warm welcome and the organization of the Culture Days of Turkmenistan in Armenia at a high level.

He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas and the National Conservatory of Turkmenistan, Yerevan State University and Magtymguly Turkmen State University and holding a number of cultural and educational events.

Atageldi Shamuradov also noted that Armenian and Turkmen cultural figures traditionally organize joint international conferences and literary readings. In this context, the translations of the works of the famous Turkmen writer Magtymguly Fragi into Armenian were touched upon.

Note that yesterday the delegation headed by the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamuradov visited the Parajanov Museum, and the closing of the “Culture Days of Turkmenistan in Armenia” program is scheduled to be held on June 2 in the city of Artashat.
