Freestyle wrestler Arsen Harutyunyan won a gold medal at the European Wrestling Championship in Zagreb and won the title of European champion for the third time in his career. In the finals, Arsen Harutyunyan competed with the representative of Albania Zelimkhan Abakarov and took a convincing victory with a score of 5:2 in the 61kg weight category

Harutyunyan started the fight in the quarter-finals, where he defeated the representative of Turkey Emrah Ormanoglu with a score of 7:0. In the semi-finals the Armenian wrestler defeated the French representative of Armenian origin, wrestler Arman Eloyan with a score of 10:0 in the 61 kg category.

Another representative of Armenia Hrayr Alikhanyan (74 kg) was close to winning the bronze medal, but in the decisive match he lost to the representative of Georgia with a score of 0:8. Alikhanyan previously had won the consolation match with a score of 3:2.

Thus, the Armenian freestyle wrestling team won 2 gold medals at the European Championships. Earlier, Armenian representative Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg) also won the title of European champion.

Freestyle wrestlers participated in the European Championship under the leadership of Habetnak Kurghinyan.
