RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan received the delegation headed by the Chair of the NA Korea-Armenia Friendship Group of the Republic of Korea Ki Hun Song.

Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan, RA NA Deputy Taguhi Ghazaryan, representatives of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.

Welcoming the members of the delegation, Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the importance of advancing Armenian-Korean relations and cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and sports. The Minister drew the guests' attention to the implementation of a number of current programs and also outlined possible avenues for further cooperation

A reference was made to the course of the reforms implemented in the fields of education and culture of RA, and the willingness to enhance cooperation in the implementation of sectoral programs was reaffirmed on both sides.

Zhanna Andreasyan proposed to expand inter-university cooperation by implementing exchange programs for students, lecturers and researchers.

The ESCS Minister noted that it is possible to consider cooperation in the field of sports, in particular, to organize joint sports events, which can become an additional platform for experience exchange for coaches and athletes and the implementation of sports programs.

The sides expressed willingness to develop cooperation also in the field of technology, consolidating it with the agreement “On cooperation in the field of science and technology between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea.”

Chair of the NA Korea-Armenia Friendship Group of the Republic of Korea Ki Hun Song thanked for the warm welcome, highlighting the importance of cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, youth and sports.

“Armenia and Korea have similarities in the fields of culture, science and education. Technology is well-advanced in Korea. By signing a joint agreement, we will further strengthen our relations in both technological, scientific, and cultural sectors,” said Ki Hun Song.

During the meeting, ESCS Minister Zhanna Andreasyan drew the attention of the members of the Korea-Armenia Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea to the issue of the only road connecting Nagorno Karabakh with the Republic of Armenia and the rest of the world, blocked by the Republic of Azerbaijan since December 12, 2022, once again emphasizing the consequences of the humanitarian crisis: “Every day, the fundamental rights of about 30,000 children are violated, including the right to education. We are hopeful that our concerns will reach the international structures, the problem will be solved and the Lachin corridor will finally open

The parties also discussed other issues related to the possibilities of expanding cooperation.
