RA ESCS Minister Vahram Dumanyan received today Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Armenia Mariano Vergara.

Deputy Minister Arthur Martirosyan also attended the meeting.

“We are happy to welcome you to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. I hope that this meeting will contribute to the implementation of a number of cultural programs initiated between Armenia and Argentina, creating ample opportunities for effective cooperation in other fields as well. We are ready to cooperate in all the sectors under the Ministry’s jurisdiction and the Armenian community of Argentina may become a bridge in the advancement of bilateral relations,” said Vahram Dumanyan expressing hope that the Ambassador's diplomatic activities will contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties and the continued enhancement and expansion of Armenian-Argentine cooperation.

Thankful for the reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to Armenia Mariano Vergara underlined that it was the Armenian community of Argentina that contributed to the establishment of the Argentine Embassy in Armenia, as well as the implementation of existing programs and new initiatives.

“There is a strong, continuous and constantly developing relationship between Armenia and Argentina. Cultural programs are of paramount importance for the Embassy, thus we expect the Ministry's assistance for the events that will be organized in the near future,” said Mariano Vergara.

The ESCS Minister expressed willingness to contribute to the implementation of the planned programs and offered to hold Argentine culture days in Armenia, and, respectively, to organize events related to Armenian culture in Argentina.

During the meeting, Vahram Dumanyan highlighted the importance of the implementation of the program of teaching the Armenian language and Armenian studies at Kennedy University in Argentina, which will give an opportunity to develop the Armenian-Argentine interuniversity cooperation.

The ESCS Minister also drew the Ambassador's attention to the issue of preserving the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day war, noting that the Armenian side expects the support of the international community, including Argentina, in this regard, so that Azerbaijan refrains from destroying and distorting the Armenian cultural heritage.
