By the decision of the RA Government, six education rewards have been determined to advance, enhance and encourage the field of Information Technology. The rewards given to the best university and postgraduate students and pupils will be awarded annually.
"Education rewards in the field of Information Technology and the awarding procedure" was approved at the RA Government sitting on May 13. The education awards, the amount of the reward and the number were defined according to the nominations.
For best students:
- “Grand Prize” – 1200 USD equivalent to AMD, for 1 prize winner,
- “Best Postgraduate Student” - prizes of the 1st and 2nd categories; 1000 and 750 USD equivalent to AMD are provided, respectively, to 6 winners in each category
- “Best Master's Student” - prizes of the 1st and 2nd categories; 750 and 500 USD equivalent to AMD are provided, respectively, to 6 winners in each category,
- “Best Bachelor” - prizes of the 1st and 2nd categories, 500 and 400 USD equivalent to AMD are provided, respectively, to 6 winners in each category.
For best pupils:
- “Grand Prize” – 500 USD equivalent to AMD, for 1 prize winner,
- “Best Pupil” - prizes of the 1st and 2nd categories; 200 and 100 USD equivalent to AMD are provided, respectively, to 6 winners in each category.
The award of the education prizes in the field of Information Technology is funded by the “Synopsis Armenia” company based on the agreement signed between the Company and the “Hayastan” All Armenian Found.
Within two weeks after the decision enters into force, “Synopsys Armenia” will introduce the composition of the selection committee for approval to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
The ESCS Minister is instructed to approve, within a month after the decision comes into force, the individual composition and regulations of the commission that selects the winner of the award in the field of IT, lists of universities and secondary schools participating in the competition for the prizes of the best students.
According to the procedure, the students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Armenia and 10-12 grade students who have demonstrated high academic performance, participated in innovative projects and competitions in IT, and have published articles are eligible to apply for the award.
The nominees for the award submit the applications to the management staff of their university or school on the basis of the announcement published on the website of the RA ESCS Ministry of the Republic of Armenia and in the mass media.
The management staff of the educational institutions submits the documents of the top ten nominees within 5 days to the awarding commission, which makes the final selection of winners based on the results of individual interviews with the applicants and meeting the defined requirements.
