On March 16 Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi to participate in the opening ceremony of the “COBRAIN” Scientific-Educational Center for Fundamental Brain Research.

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, Rector of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkhitar Heratsi Armen Muradyan and others participated in the event.

Prime Minister Pashinyan toured the newly opened center, got acquainted with the created opportunities and scope of activities. It was stated that the Centre plans to conduct research aimed at preventing chronic disorders of the human brain and ensuring healthy brain activities. It is expected that the creation of the Center will contribute to the implementation of the science development concept and the strategy of the university, the advancement of innovative research in the field of neuroscience, the formation of an incubator of young specialists. The center was built by the World Bank-funded “Education Improvement” loan program implemented by the Center for Education Programs PIU of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia.

During the visit to Yerevan State Medical University, Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by Armen Muradyan, also visited the Center for Excellence of Dental Education of YSMU, the activities of which are aimed at advancing the practical skills of dentists. The Centre is furnished with the necessary equipment, modern professional literature. Training courses for doctors, mutual visits of specialists, and training practices are organized here.

The Prime Minister also toured the Museum of the History of Medicine of Armenia, located in the central building of the University, the renovated gym, visited auditorium 4 named after Emil Gabrielyan and the auditorium 8 named after the Honored Doctor of the Republic of Armenia Robert Karamyan, which have recently been reconstructed.

The Prime Minister of Armenia laid flowers at the memorial plaque commemorating the victims of the 44-day war.
